The Secretary of International Relations of the Cyprus Youth Council Mr. Panayiotis Krashias, participated in the ASEF Summer University (ASEFSU), a 2-week project which has been held from 27 of January until the 10 of February in Australia and New Zealand. The project has been organized by the Asia-Europe Foundation, the Swinburne University and the University of Canterbury and is an experiential learning journey for Asian and European students and young professionals.
The ASEFSU has covered 8 thematic areas related to the theme of Youth with Disabilities including Mobility, Rights Protection and Legislation, Economic Security and Employment, Inclusive Education, Health and Well-being, Participation in Society, Access to Information and Attitudes and Perceptions.
Mr. Panayiotis Krashias has intensively worked for two weeks with a mix group from Europe and Asia under the thematic ‘’Attitudes and Perceptions’’ and they designed an online public awareness campaign to change the public’s attitudes and perceptions of young people with disabilities (PwD) in Singapore. The aim of the campaign was to create public awareness campaign, as well as to reach out all youths with youth with disabilities in Singapore through different social media channels like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
The 2-week project has been successfully concluded with a closing ceremony in the presence of many governmental officials, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand, where 48 people from all over the world presented the 8 thematic areas and managed to develop a strong understanding for the issues faced by youth with disabilities.
As the biggest platform of youth-led organisations in Cyprus we are very proud of participating in a high-level global project and we will still contributing as active ambassadors for open and inclusive ASEM societies in Cyprus and internationally.
